Tasting notes

Aroma

Vibrant and piercingly fresh. The glass opens with a soaring array of Meyer lemon peel, white orchard fruit, and green apple, deeply intertwined with sea-spray, crushed oyster shell, and subtle white tea.

Palate

Driven by a phenomenal, coiled energy. The palate features a laser-focused core of tart citrus, crunchy pear, and lime blossom, completely unmasked by heavy oak. A profound chalky, saline minerality dominates the mid-palate, carrying through to an incredibly long, electric finish that leaves the mouth watering for the next sip.

In Detail

Secure the next chapter of RAEN's legendary Lady Marjorie cuvée at the nation's best price.

When Carlo and Dante Mondavi founded RAEN (Research in Agriculture and Enology Naturally), their mission was singular: to push the absolute limits of farming on the rugged, extreme edge of the Sonoma Coast. With the 2023 release of the "Lady Marjorie" Chardonnay, that pursuit of coastal perfection has reached a stunning new high-water mark, earning a massive 99-point score from James Suckling.

While the previous vintage established this cuvée as a true collector's obsession, the 2023 dials up the precision even further. Grown in vineyards constantly swept by freezing Pacific fog and marine winds, the fruit here ripens at a glacial pace. The brothers utilize native yeasts, whole-cluster pressing, and an incredibly light touch in the cellar to ensure that extreme maritime terroir translates directly into the glass.

The result is a thrilling, high-tension 99-point Chardonnay that drinks much closer to Premier-Cru Meursault than traditional California white wine. It is voluptuous and definitely California Chardonnay without being CALIFORNIA CHARDONNAY. With production always kept painstakingly small, allocations of the new 2023 vintage are fiercely fought over.
