In Detail
Pure, unadulterated Patagonian Pinot Noir crafted with zero added sulfur
Founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, Bodega Chacra stands at the absolute pinnacle of South American winemaking. Located in the remote Río Negro Valley of Patagonia, the estate farms un-grafted old-vine Pinot Noir under strict biodynamic principles, utilizing glacial river water and arid desert breezes to cultivate fruit of pristine health and aromatic purity.
'Sin Azufre' (Without Sulfur) represents Piero's purest, most uncompromising expression of terroir. Harvested from a single block of organic and biodynamic vines planted on sandy, limestone-rich soils, the grapes are fermented with native yeasts in concrete tanks without any added sulfur dioxide or oak manipulation, capturing the raw, luminous character of Patagonia.
In the glass, the 2023 vintage displays a bright ruby hue. The nose opens with a vivid bouquet of blood orange zest, cherries, hibiscus, and crushed violets. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and packed with energy, delivering crunchy red berry fruit and mineral tension that flow into a long, savory, and beautifully salty finish.
This is a masterclass in zero-sulfur winemaking from one of the world's premier Pinot Noir producers. Serve slightly chilled alongside roasted duck breast, seared ahi tuna, or wild mushroom tart.
