Domaine Vacheron treats Rosé like a Grand Cru. While most producers in Sancerre relegate their young vines and lesser fruit to rosé production, cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron take the opposite approach. Tasting notes
Aroma
A focused, crystalline nose of blood orange, wild strawberry, and sea salt. The flint soil imparts a distinct smoky, chalky note that sets it apart from fruit-forward styles.
Palate
Precise and energetic. The palate is driven by tangy red berries and pink grapefruit, supported by a spine of saline acidity. It finishes clean and long, with a light white pepper note that makes it a perfect match for grilled salmon or goat cheese.

Domaine Vacheron treats Rosé like a Grand Cru.
While most producers in Sancerre relegate their young vines and lesser fruit to rosé production, cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron take the opposite approach. They source this wine from 30-to-50-year-old Pinot Noir vines. These are deep-rooted plants grown on the appellation’s most prized Silex (flint) and limestone soils—the same terroir that produces their top-tier whites.
Certified Biodynamic since 2005, the Vacherons farm entirely by hand and refuse to use synthetic chemicals. For the 2022 vintage, they utilized a direct press method rather than the saignée method. This technique captures the pale, crystalline color and the razor-sharp minerality of the soil while minimizing heavy tannins. The result is a wine that drinks with the tension of a white Sancerre, but with the subtle red fruit complexity of old-vine Pinot Noir.
