Meursault-Level Old-Vine Aligoté

2021 Domaine Remi Jobard Bourgogne-Aligote En Busigny

Most Bourgogne Aligoté is made to be simple and quaffable. Rémi Jobard’s is definitively not. As one of Meursault’s most respected growers, Jobard applies the exact same obsessive, organic farming and restrained winemaking to this Aligoté as he does to his expensive Premier Cru Meursaults. In Detail

A serious, texture-driven Aligoté farmed on prime limestone just below Meursault

Sourced from 'En Busigny'—a specific plot of old vines rooted in the exact same limestone and clay that makes the neighboring Chardonnay world-famous—this cuvée transcends its humble category. While standard Aligoté often grows in flat, heavy soils built for volume, these old vines deliver striking terroir transparency and serious mineral cut.

Aged thoughtfully in a mix of neutral barrels and large foudres, the 2021 vintage marries razor-sharp alpine freshness with a surprisingly deep, lees-aged texture. Crisp enough to wash down oysters yet substantial enough for roast chicken, this is exactly what happens when a master of Meursault decides to take Aligoté seriously.
