In Detail

Vibrant, silky Languedoc red packed with dark berry fruit, garrigue, and spice

Established in 2013 by Hélène and Guillaume Baron, Clos de la Barthassade has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting young estates in the Languedoc. Located in Aniane within the cool Terrasses du Larzac appellation, the domain is farmed under strict organic certification, capitalizing on dramatic diurnal temperature swings that preserve remarkable freshness and phenolic detail in the grapes.

'Les Gravettes' takes its name from the gravel-rich limestone soils of the vineyard. The 2020 cuvée is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and neutral oak to accentuate pure, unvarnished fruit character and Mediterranean aromatics.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-purple core. Exotic aromas of blackberry, wild blueberry, rosemary garrigue, lavender, and freshly cracked black pepper lift enthusiastically from the glass. On the palate, it balances rich, sun-drenched dark berry fruit with vibrant mountain acidity and silky, fine-grained structure, trailing into a long, mineral-flecked finish.
