Product Description

One of the final vintages from the only "garage wine" in Pauillac

This is the wine that Château Mouton Rothschild finally bought to eliminate the competition.

For decades, Château Chantecler was the anomaly of Pauillac. In a region dominated by massive corporate estates and First Growths, Chantecler was a tiny, defiant one-hectare garden sitting literally across the street from Mouton Rothschild and Pontet-Canet. The big estates coveted this prime limestone and gravel terroir for years.

In 2022, the Mirande family finally sold the estate to the Rothschilds, effectively ending the independent history of this cult producer. The 2019 vintage is one of the final chapters of this story. It is a rare chance to taste the exact same terroir that goes into bottles costing $600+, produced by a small family team rather than a corporate army. It is classic, powerful Pauillac that offers a look at the "Grand Cru" plateau without the marketing markup.
