Tasting notes

Aroma

A mesmerizing, evolved nose of dried apricot, honeycomb, candied lime peel, and that signature "petrol" mineral note that signals a perfectly aged Riesling.

Palate

Electric and feather-light. The sweetness has evolved into a texture that feels like "fruit extract" rather than sugar. Flavors of quince, ginger, and salted caramel dance on a palate that finishes with a clean, spicy kick.

Product Description

A cellar treasure released at its peak.

This is what happens when you let top-tier Riesling sleep for a decade.

While most white wines fade after a few years, German Auslese is immortal. This 2014 vintage from the historic C. von Nell-Breuning estate has been resting in their cellars for 12 years, transforming from a simple sweet wine into a complex, gastronomic masterpiece. If you love aged Riesling, this is your best bet.

The Nell-Breuning family has been making wine here since 1670 (Beethoven was actually a family friend and piano teacher to their children!). They specialize in the Ruwer Valley, a tiny tributary of the Mosel known for producing the most delicate, spicy, and "ethereal" Rieslings in Germany. Sourced from the copper-slate soils of the Kaseler Kehrnagel vineyard, this wine has digested its sugar, leaving behind a shimmering core of dried apricot, slate, and exotic spice that tastes less like "dessert wine" and more like liquid gold.
