Crafted predominantly from old-vine Tempranillo blended with a touch of Mazuelo, the wine spent years resting in traditional American oak casks. This extended contact with oak and slow oxidative development softened Tempranillo’s natural structure, transforming bright red fruit into a seamless, velvety texture brimming with tertiary complexity.
In the glass, it shows a luminous ruby-garnet core fading to a brick rim. Aromas of dried red cherry, sweet tobacco, leather, vanilla bean, and toasted cedar lift gently from the glass. On the palate, it is supple and completely integrated, offering flavors of spiced plum, dried figs, cocoa, and subtle dill, held together by age-softened tannins and a fine thread of acidity.
Pristine 1990s Rioja with this level of provenance is exceedingly difficult to find, and we hold the only retail allocation of this 31-year-old gem in the United States. Uncork it tonight alongside roasted lamb chops or aged Manchego cheese.
